Who are the Overrated Players in NBA 2K21?

As each NBA 2K season progresses, one topic is hotly debated each year: the player ratings. Therefore, NBA 2K21 is no exception. But some are ranked too high, others come in lower than they should, and some make no sense at all. Today, we're going to introduce some of the most overrated players in NBA 2K21. Who are they?

Tyrese Haliburton (83)

Tyrese Haliburton

The Sacramento Kings were shocked that Tyrese Haliburton from Iowa State fell to them with the #12 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He's a rock-solid teammate who shot 40% from the 3-point line and was one of college basketball's best passers. So far, he's putting up just around 12 points per game, handing out about five assists, and hitting over 40% of his three-pointers.

However, he's just ranked too high for now. His output shouldn't have him above Herro, Ball, or Derrick Rose (81), or on the same level as Collin Sexton, Caris LeVert, or Dejounte Murray.

Mitchell Robinson (82)

Mitchell Robinson

The New York Knicks are far from a contending team, but Mitchell Robinson is one of the league's most efficient big men.

He guys are talented young men with loads of potential to become key players in the NBA. Robinson has yet to average over 10 points in a season or grab nine rebounds per game. He has shown a knack for blocking shots but that's really it.

Although being 22 means he has plenty of time to become a star, as of right now, he shouldn't be ranked above better players.

Ben Simmons (88)

Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons is considered a top star, so his rating of 88 might seem appropriate. He's indeed a versatile point guard who can use his size to his advantage and is sometimes a walking triple-double.

A closer look reveals that it is too high. For one, Simmons has kind of plateaued offensively after his rookie campaign. He doesn't show a willingness to develop a jump shot, struggles at the foul line, and hasn't seen his stats improve much. Giving him the same rating as a blossoming star-like Devin Booker or just below Boston's Jayson Tatum is illogical.

Jaren Jackson Jr. (83)

Jaren Jackson Jr

Jaren Jackson Jr. is part of a fantastic young core that has Memphis Grizzlies fans everywhere excited. His averages during his single season at Michigan State were just 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. He seems to have a high ceiling but lacks consistency at this point in his career. Jaren Jackson Jr. improved from a player who averaged 13 points per game to well over 17 points last season, but the rest of his game still needs work.

The fact that he ranks so closely to Morant (86) or other bigs like Jarrett Allen (84) and Andre Drummond (83) seems off.

Paul George (90)

Paul George

On paper, a 90 overall seems about right for Paul George. After all, one of the best two-way players in the league today, PG13 can provide scoring in bunches on offense with his slick shot-creating abilities and explosive finishing at the rim. There's also his ability to apply pressure on the opponent's best player on defense. The problem is that George has kind of seen his game slip since moving to the Clippers.

Scoring, rebounding, steals, and most other categories are down in the past two years. Plus, he's famously underperformed in the playoffs (shooting 39% there last year). Therefore, he's just ranked too high for now.
