NBA 2K22 Leaks: About Cover Stars, Release Date, Editions, and More

The excitement is building for the upcoming release of NBA 2K22. However, how much do you know about it so far? Here we list a few leaks regarding NBA 2K22, including release date, cover stars, editions, and more.

NBA 2K22 Leaks

Cover stars

A Twitter account named 2KIntel shared what looks to be a photograph of a promotional flier for NBA 2K22 that half of the flier features artwork featuring three different NBA players, all of whom most basketball fans would call great players.

The first player shown is the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, sporting his Los Angeles Lakers jersey and the iconic goggles he wore due to frequently getting his eye scratched.

Second is Dirk Nowitzki, who recently retired in 2019 after spending his entire NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks.

The last NBA player, and the most controversial addition, is Kevin Durant. Durant currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets, though he earned his championship rings with the Golden State Warriors.

Rumor has it that they are the cover stars of this year. If the rumors pan out to be true, it appears there is some indication that there will be three editions, with KD taking the regular edition. At the same time, Dirk Nowitzki and Kareem will represent the Legend and Deluxe edition. Either way, all three guys are extremely deserving, so let's go through each.

Release date

While the release date is still up in the air, the game typically releases sometime in September, right before the NBA season kicks off.

The leaked image posted by 2KIntel also notes that the game will release on Friday, September 10, so we'll have to wait for further confirmation from 2K Games on this date.

Editions

You can expect two or three NBA 2K22 editions. There will be a no-frills standard edition, and we'll likely see one or two bundles with some extras. Of course, these will come at an additional cost.

MyCareer, leaks, and rumors

The premier game mode for NBA 2K has, without a doubt, been MyCareer over recent years, as they have tweaked the player customization options multiple times, and the new pie charts have resonated with fans.

This will be the big selling point for this year's game once again, as we hope 2K Games will fine-tune this game mode even more. But, we'll have to wait and see what news comes out regarding MyCareer soon.
