How to Build a Competitive Squad on a Budget in NBA 2K21 MyTeam?
NBA 2K21 has only been released soon, so MyTeam is still in its early stages. This means that players need to build a team on a budget. Here are some rules and things to need know if you're trying to build a competitive MyTeam squad fast and on a budget.
1. Know Your Play Style
The meta is one thing, but your playstyle is something different.
Are you someone who has excellent shot timing and therefore you don't need to have the Galaxy Opal Steph Curry and Ray Allen to be deadly from the outside?
Do you have such a good handle on moves in the post that you can turn a Diamond or even an Amethyst big man into a low-post force because of your stick skills?
If so, you can afford to balance your collection in a way that somewhat hides some of your weaknesses, and saves on the spending of your in-game currency.
2. Tokens are invaluable
One of the main areas to target early is the Token Market.
Grinding your way through the ranks up to the Sapphire players can take an early team up a level and give you that extra pair of hands to get you through the tough spots.
And don't forget, tokens won't cost you a penny. You earn them simply through playing the game.
So whilst those Ruby/Sapphire players may not see much action further down the line, they will be the key men in your side through the opening few weeks of action.
3. Budget Your MT
It's very easy to earn 2K21 MT and it can be tempting to start spending it on every little thing that catches your eye, but don't do it. You'll get more out of your NBA 2K21 MT by budgeting yourself rather than going crazy as soon as a little bit hits your account.
4. Really Budget Your VC
While MT is fairly easy to come by, VC isn't as much. Admittedly it's an infinite resource as you'll never run out of ways to earn it, but it definitely takes time to obtain a large amount. Because of this, you want to be very, very careful about what you spend it on. The rule of thumb is that you only spend it if you expect it'll earn back what you put in.
5. Locker Codes
Similarly to tokens, Locker Codes are another great way to improve your team without spending any money.
They give you the opportunity to pick up just about anything: players, packs, contracts, tokens etcetera.
They may not always grant the best rewards, but absolutely anything that you can pick up for free in the early stages of MyTEAM is going to be positive to help bulk out your club.
As long as you keep up to date on temporary locker code goodies, you can stack up your team for the cost of nothing at all.
6. Know your modes
When you thinking about building your team, you need to think about which modes you going to be focusing on.
If you're going to be playing a lot of 5v5 – the likes of MT Unlimited – then you going to have to stretch your budget to cover a starting lineup as well as your second string and your reserves.
However, if you're more of a Triple Threat kinda player, then you can invest more money into those higher rated players for your starting three. After all, there are no subs in Triple Threat.
7. Play to your team's strengths
To succeed in MyTEAM you need to know your team inside and out. That's the ultimate way to improve your game without spending a single mt.
Sure you might have to surrender some post presence, but by playing to your strengths, in this case Maker's shooting ability, you can stretch the matchup into your favor.
Managing 5 matchups and all the ways they can change with bench players is the hidden challenge to NBA 2K games.
Master this, and it doesn't matter how weak your lineup's stats really are.
8. Substitutes are key
Speaking of MyTEAM Unlimited, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is plunging all of your money into your starting five.
You're going to want your starting five to be as good as it can be, that's a given. But if you overdo your starting five and leave your budget short for your subs and reserves, you're going to leave yourself in a spot of bother.
Those substitutes won't get as many minutes as you starting five, but in those close games, you need your bench to pull their weight.
9. How to grow
Once you've established a lineup with enough talent to take games consistently, the real grind begins.
Take your accomplished team into Unlimited if you're confident enough, or grind out other game modes to keep growing.
Make sure that you take note of challenges you face, daily, weekly, or monthly. These offer big time rewards for only the cost of adjusting your lineup while playing. More avenues for mt and packs is always going to help.
Also be sure to take advantage of evolution cards and item upgrades along the way so you're getting the best out of your lineup, even on a budget.
10. Play, play and play some more
The final tip is to immerse yourself in MyTEAM. It is called a grind for a reason, but it can be worthwhile.
The more modes you play, the more different challenges you put yourself in, the better you'll become, and the better your team will become.
Most importantly, it will help you find your style.
MyTEAM doesn't have to be expensive. You just need to use the tips above. Also, you can click here to see more NBA 2k21 latest news.
