NBA 2K20 Ratings Updates: Who are the Best Players?
The third update of the NBA 2k20 ratings has been released, and the league's important star ratings have also changed. Who has got the biggest promotion and which players have fallen the most?
Here's how the top of NBA 2K20 is looking right now.
• LeBron James – 97 overall
• James Harden – 97 overall (+1)
• Giannis Antetokounmpo – 97 overall (+1)
• Kawhi Leonard – 96 overall (-1)
• Luka Doncic: 96 OVR (+3)
• Kevin Durant – 96 overall
• Steph Curry – 95 overall
• Anthony Davis – 95 overall (+1)
• Paul George: 93 OVR (-1)
• Damian Lillard – 92 overall
• Karl-Anthony Towns: 91 OVR
• Joel Embiid: 91 OVR
• Kyrie Irving: 91 OVR
• Nikola Jovic – 90 overall
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is rising up the charts faster than anyone I can remember. Doncic began the year rated an 87 overall after his Rookie of the Year season during the 2018-19 season. Doncic and the Mavericks are off to a great start to the season, and he's now rated a 96 overall. He ahead of cover star Anthony Davis (95), on par with recent NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, and just a point behind three of the other best players in the game today.
Doncic has led the team to a 15-6 record and he's threatening a triple-double most nights. He is an average of 30.3 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and 9.2 assists per game through 21 contests are at another level -- both in this reality and virtual reality, too.
Doncic's rating has increased by three points in each of the rating updates this season, including the most recent. Not only is Doncic's +9 OVR this season meteoric, but also how much he's improved since his first appearance in the series. Rookie Doncic was originally given a 79 OVR in NBA 2K19 or last year's installment of the game. That +17 OVR in 93 career games has to be among the quickest rises in series history, though there's no way of knowing for sure.
LeBron James is still considered at the top of the 2K20 ratings with a 97 overall rating. He's joined by the league's past two MVP Award winners Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden who each went up a point to join King James as 97s.
Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA 2K19 cover athlete, and Houston Rockets point guard James Harden both received one point increases to their overall rating. Harden and Antetokounmpo the first and second-ranked scorers in the game, averaging 38.7 and 31 points per game, respectively. Antetokounmpo has been a big reason why the Bucks are atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 19-3 record.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Kawhi Leonard has slid a bit, falling to a 96 overall as he plays for the third team in his career. Leonard is having the worst shooting season of his career with an effective field goal percentage of just 47.9% (ranked 84th among 99 players with at least 200 field goal attempts).
Although he's not a top-rated player, an interesting increase was Carmelo Anthony. Since returning to the league as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, Carmelo Anthony has been in good form. He nabbed recent Player of the Week honors and has helped Portland remain competitive in the Western Conference. He also received a recent Moments Challenge in 2K20's MyTeam mode. The Washington Wizards' Jordan McRae has jumped four points to a 72 overall.
The biggest dip is, unfortunately, the Lakers' Kyle Kuzma. Having dropped three points, Kuzma is now just a 78 overall. The Lakers have been on fire since the season began, but Kuzma isn't the biggest reason for the team success. His career numbers have dropped significantly as he is apparently finding it difficult to get comfortable in a new role in light of the team's addition of Anthony Davis. Kuzma's 11.1 ppg and 3.4 RPG are all career lows.
One of the most questionable omissions from the rating adjustments is Trae Young. The young Atlanta Hawks point guard remains an 89 overall, despite the fact that he's averaging 28.7 points (4th) and 8.4 assists (5th) per game.
Some of the most notable changes also include Blake Griffin -2 (Overall 86), Hassan Whiteside + 3 (Overall 84), Spencer Dinwiddie +2 (Overall 83), Fred VanVleet +3 (Overall 83), Draymond Green -2 (Overall 83) and Jonas Valanciunas +2 (Overall 82).
Overall, there is not much to complain about this rating. But if you have other opinions, please let us know.
