NBA 2K22: Which players are you most excited to play with?

Every year, I look forward to playing with the newest players in the game, but sometimes, rookies can be frustrating because their ratings typically don't start too high. But this year, I can't wait to use the rookies, specifically Jalen Green and Cade Cunningham.

Jalen Green

Jalen Green initially started at 77 before his incredible Summer League performance boosted him to 79.

Green has the ability to score from anywhere on the court, can finish through contact, and is an expert at quick shooting and making space for himself and his teammates.

Green's offensive game looks good, although more consistency in shooting is required to take him to the next level. Additionally, Green can ignore easy passes, which is another area of his game that can be improved. Nevertheless, he could challenge Cade Cunningham this season for the 'rookie of the year' award.

Cade Cunningham

Cade Cunningham is the only rookie to have received a rating on the 80 range, which he expected.

Cunningham is the best player in his class, based on his offensive game, leadership, and the fact that he has a range of weapons in his arsenal he is confident to use. He can finish at the rim, pull in regular jumpers, and put in the occasional three. He is an elite passer who has, until now, been the leader and the major ball handler in all his teams.

Cade Cunningham's inconsistent defending and occasional streaky spells are the only notable issues the Detroit Pistons should be wary of and looking to help him improve.

NBA 2K22: Which teams are you most excited to play with?

Among the many teams in the NBA, the following three teams are the most excited:

Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets were a solid surprise this past season. They went from a team that people questioned to arguably the most exciting in the league.

Firstly, LaMelo Ball received a big bump from his 77 ratings at the start of NBA 2K21 to an 84 overall in the new game. The reigning Rookie of the Year gives you everything you want in a 2K point guard, from his playmaking, long-range shooting, and flashy fastbreak assists. That alone makes the Hornets a solid pick.

Then comes the "Air BnB" combination with Miles Bridges in transition. The young duo was one of, if not the most entertaining combinations in the NBA last season, terrorizing defenses with their high-flying, alley-oop connection.

Adding to that is a solid cast of perimeter players in Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and the newly acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. The Hornets small-ball lineup gets you up and down the floor with plenty of style points.

To tie a bow on it, they also have a pair of exciting rookies in center Kai Jones and shooting guard James Bouknight, who I expect to contribute right away.

Los Angeles Lakers

The clear-cut best of all the teams, the Los Angeles Lakers are so stacked.

With the team's offseason acquisition of Russell Westbrook, it's going to be a delight to play with the Brodie alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James, who is one of four players with NBA 2K22's best rating at 96 overall.

Within the game, the role players the Lakers have added should be great fits around their Big 3. You have Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard all to lob to, and Lebron James and Anthony Davis can shoot threes. You even have Russell Westbrook you can lob it to and get you open, and he can shoot him theoretically right.

Only the Brooklyn Nets should be the legitimate contenders to the Purple and Gold.

Oklahoma City Thunder

There is no team more loaded with future draft picks than the Oklahoma City Thunder. They own an absurd 18 first-round draft picks through 2027. That's not counting second-round selections either, so there's a ton of potential to build the future. If you want, you can use those picks to build through the draft.

If you want a quicker route, you can move them for current stars. First and foremost, OKC has a big guard in Josh Giddey, who will be fun to hunt triple-doubles and chase a Rookie of the Year award with. You also have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who can do a little bit of everything offensively and is an All-Star in the making, as well as Luguentz Dort, who can lock down anyone.
