What are Mayors in NBA 2K21?

Mayors in NBA 2K21 will represent each Affiliation in The City on next-gen platforms.

The NBA 2K21 Mayors will be influencers from social media, and the following are confirmed for each Affiliation in The City:

    • Troydan – Western Wildcats
    • Tyceno – Beasts of the East
    • Simply Grinding – North Side Knights
    • ShakeDown – South City Vipers

What can mayors do in NBA 2K21's The City?

Here is what you should expect to change with each new mayor.

1). Uniform design

Nothing brings a team together, or sets affiliations apart, quite like a good uniform. During games that feature two rival affiliations, especially those about Rival Days, your mayor will dictate what your team will wear. This will not be in effect when playing in any other pick-up games nor when you're strolling around the map.

2). Court design

Each borough has its own courts that players can enjoy. However, they are not all the same. A mayor has the power to change the design of each court inside their borough. Designs can be simplistic as replicating an NBA court or can feature unique themes not seen elsewhere.

3). Mural design

Mayors cannot alter where and what stores are in boroughs, but will be able to place statues and other types of artwork around their dedicated areas. This may mean sculptures of themselves, or images celebrating past NBA legends.

4). Video production

There are several jumbotrons scattered across The City. The footage that plays on each boroughs' jumbotrons will be curated personally by their representing mayors.

5). Borough music

Mayors are responsible for deciding what music plays throughout the entire region of their affiliation. Beats in boroughs will also be something up to them. With each elected mayor, players will hear different custom playlists. If a player doesn't enjoy their musical tastes, they are free to head over to other boroughs to listen to something more in their wheelhouse.

6). Polling and messaging

There will also be in-game polls and various messaging that can be found within The City's menu system. Ballers will have a partial say in what is included in their team's hub. Mayors can plaster polls and other messages around town that players can interact with and get a sense of what their community desires.

Can a team change their mayor?

Of course, mayors are not permanent. It's election season all the time in 2K21. An election will be held every six weeks within NBA 2K21. Each affiliation member will be given the opportunity to vote for their mayoral representative, bringing a new flavor of entertainment to The City each election season.
